Orange County Growing their Education Base

Orange County Public Schools’ five-year capital budget plan includes 16 new schools in the Orlando area in order to meet the local demand. OCPS announced May 16 new schools in the works include nine elementary schools, two K-8 schools, one pre-K-8 school, three middle schools and one high school.

This is to help accommodate the continual growth of enrollment. OCPS sees up to 5,000 new students a year, according to a news release. These projects are just part of a $3 billion, multi-year plan through 2025.

These new projects will create construction opportunities for local designers and builders, and also will create hundreds more full-time teacher and administrative jobs. The demand also is an indicator that families see the Orlando area as a good place to live, ultimately boosting the potential consumer base of local businesses.
